Prepping for Prom Night - Checklist
Prom night is one of the most exciting and memorable events of high school. It’s a night to dress up, dance, and create memories that will last a lifetime. However, preparing for prom can also be stressful and overwhelming. Here are some tips to help you with prepping for prom night and making the most of your special night:
1. Plan Ahead
Start planning for prom AT LEAST a month in advance. This will give you enough time to shop for a dress, book a hair and makeup appointment, book your photographer, make dinner reservations, order you boutonnière/corsage and make any other necessary arrangements.
2. Set a Budget
Prom can be expensive, so it’s important to set a budget and stick to it. Consider all the expenses, such as the dress, shoes, accessories, hair and makeup, photographer, transportation, flowers, dinner and tickets.
3. Shop for a Dress
Your prom dress is the centerpiece of your prom look, so take your time and choose a dress that makes you feel confident and beautiful. Consider the dress code, your personal style, and your body type when choosing a dress. Make sure to have someone else take a bunch of photos of you in the dresses while trying them on so you see how you really look in it!
4. Book Hair/Makeup/Nail Appointments
Book your hair, makeup and nail appointments well in advance to ensure you get the time slot you want. Bring photos of hairstyles and makeup looks you like to your appointments to help your stylist understand your vision. You can even book a trial run before prom to make sure you love the look you’ve chosen.
5. Coordinate with Your Date
If you have a date, coordinate your outfits and colors to ensure you both look great together. Order your boutonnière and corsage so they match. If you don’t have a date, don’t worry – prom is just as much fun with a group of friends!
6. Plan Your Transportation
Plan how you will get to and from prom in advance. Consider renting a limousine or party bus with your friends, or arrange for a parent or friend to drive you. Also, make sure you have a plan for getting back home at the end of the night.
7. Book Your Photographer
If you didn’t know already, I’m a photographer, so of course I’m going to suggest booking a photographer for prom photos!! You can get amazing group, small group, couple, best friend, etc. photos before prom or before going to dinner.
8. Get Dinner Reservations
If your prom doesn’t include dinner, make sure you get reservations at one of your favorite restaurants before going to the dance!
9. Stay Safe
Prom night can be a wild and crazy night, but it’s important to stay safe. Stick with your friends, make a plan in case of emergency and make good decisions.
By following these tips, you can prepare for prom and make the most of your special night. Remember, prom is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, so enjoy every moment and make memories that will last a lifetime!
